A bit of Millington history
In 1878 George Millington donated land to settlers on the condition the new town be named for him. Chartered by Tennessee in 1903. Park Field opened as a U.S. Army aviation training site in WWI; the Navy took it over in 1942, and in 1949 it became Naval Air Station Memphis. Today Naval Support Activity Mid-South is one of the largest single employers in Tennessee.
