A bit of Arlington history
Inhabited by the Chickasaw Nation, area settled in the 1850s. First incorporated as Haysville in 1878 but reincorporated as Arlington in December 1900 with about 600 residents. Transitioned from railroad-and-agriculture community to fast-growing eastern Shelby County suburb after 2000.
For owners that translates to a buy-and-hold market: values are up about 20% over five years, and 81% of homes are owner-occupied, so a rental that does come open tends to draw long-term, well-qualified residents. The last twelve months have been flat to slightly soft, in line with the wider for-sale market. That is the honest near-term picture; the five-year trend is the one that has paid owners here.
