A bit of Victorian Village history
Memphis's most concentrated collection of pre- and post-Civil War mansions, anchored by the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallory%E2%80%93Neely_House" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Mallory-Neely House</a> (1852), Woodruff-Fontaine House (1870), and Magevney House (1837), all open as house museums. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district. The five-block stretch along Adams Avenue between Manassas and Orleans preserves Italianate, Second Empire, and Queen Anne architecture from when the area was Memphis's wealthiest residential enclave before the yellow fever epidemics of the 1870s.
