Contemporary branding for the Downtown Memphis Central Business Improvement District (CBID). The district is administered by the <a href="https://downtownmemphis.com/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Downtown Memphis Commission</a>, an independent agency established in 1977 as the Center City Commission and renamed in 2012; it is funded by a special assessment on commercial properties inside the CBID rather than by city or county tax dollars.
