<p>The <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinch_District" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Pinch District</a> is a historic neighborhood just north of FedEx Forum, bounded roughly by Auction Avenue, Front Street, A.W. Willis Avenue, and Third Street. The name traces to Irish immigrants who settled in the 1830s ("Pinch Gut" referenced their lean meals); successive waves of European and Jewish immigrants made it the city's entry point through the 19th century. Long the subject of redevelopment plans tied to the Pyramid Arena and Bass Pro Shops.</p>
