A bit of Klondike history
Historic Black neighborhood in North Memphis established in the late nineteenth century, named for the contemporaneous Klondike Gold Rush of 1896. Today the area is part of the broader Klondike-Smokey City community development district. The neighborhood retains its early-twentieth-century shotgun-and-bungalow housing stock and has been a focus of CDC-led revitalization work.
