Small pocket along the historic Pigeon Roost trace, the dry-weather Chickasaw trail that ran from the Mississippi line into downtown Memphis along what later became Lamar Avenue. The name refers to a massive roost of now-extinct passenger pigeons that the trail led to in the early 1800s; the route was already in heavy Chickasaw use before American settlement. Per <a href="https://storyboardmemphis.org/tag/pigeon-roost-road/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Storyboard Memphis</a>, Pigeon Roost Road predates Memphis itself.
